WSKO Summer Camp 2014

WSKO SUMMER CAMP 2015

We held our 3rd annual summer camp and once again it was in true WSKO style.

FRIDAY

Everyone arrived throughout Friday with some of Ystrad setting up their camp earlier than everyone else #teamystrad.

Everyone arrived and settled in, everyone was welcomed in the main Bar Area with a Welcome Buffet, followed by a night at the races. Everyone dug deep into their pockets and had a great time with a staggering £123.70p being raised for the squad fund. A big shout out to Sensei Gerwyn and Mark Rowbotham for organising such a fun event. Sensei Gerwyn was the funniest bookmaker ever!

Paul Rees was on offer to babysit any of the children should we have needed him. He even brought the Xbox.

Then it was time to chill and enjoy the lovely weather and scenery, kids playing in the stream and the swimming pool and the adults enjoying a nice relaxing well earned drink.

SATURDAY

On Saturday despite a late night and some wicked handovers everyone stepped up and did the karate course. Training, by Sensei Jason, Sensei Gerwyn and Sesnei Rob, Senpai Liam and our guest Sensei Paul Davies from Swansea.

During the course of the day most people enjoyed the weather with some taking advantage of the outdoor pool that was on offer.

Some however couldn’t resist having their photos taken under the team Ystrad Banner.... Yes Sensei Robert even with your back to us we knew it was you.

WSKO Summer Camp 2015

Friendly rivalry was shown in the afternoons session of indoor football with Teams Ferndale, Ystrad and Pentre/Tonyrefail taking each other on for what seemed like ever!

WSKO Summer Camp 2015

Then came time for the Annual Duck Race.. Sensei Jason your not suppose to leave the bag go!

WSKO Summer Camp 2015

Winner of the duck race was Sensei Robin Short our American counterpart, who I have to say supports the squad fund in everything we do and often PayPal’s donations from across the miles. Sensei Gerwyn received his prize on his behalf. After the Prize money was given out... £573 was raised for the WSKO Squad Fund..... Thanks to everyone....

As the evening approached it was time for the BBQ, once again a fabulous spread was put on with Sensei Gerwyn at the helm.

WSKO Summer Camp 2015

Saturday night would not be the same without the bonfire with everyone toasting their marshmallows.

WSKO Summer Camp 2015

Once again there was some inter club rivalry with a game of Human Hungry Hippos and a basket ball playoff between the Senseis.......with Team Ystrad winning both! Never mind guys its not the winning its the taking part that counts. There was definitely some cheating going in the Pentre / Tonyrefail camp and we have video footage to prove it!

Sensei Jason and Steven Evans Ferndale clearly wanting to be in the winners photo!

As the evening progressed Emma Evans brought out a game. Yes guys it was a game involving shots. Why are none of you surprised! However it seems there was not enough ‘LEMONADE’ for Sensei Jason. When the kids went to bed the adults enjoyed... by drinking the evening away, enjoying the warmth of the Bonfire, and of course ‘Battleship shots’ which both Sensei Jason and Sensei Gerwy deffo need to get some practise in ready for next year.

As the evening drew to a close the camp fell quiet well it was around 4am......

SUNDAY

Everyone was up for breakfast and then made the effort to attend the karate course. Even the Senseis  with their sore heads!
